Moving from Santiago, Chile back to France makes for a dramatic cultural transition. I’m living in Lyon for the forseeable future and, while the city feels desperately small compared to Santiago, there’s plenty to keep busy with. I’m trying to get into the habit of taking pictures every day; below you’ll find some snapshots captured during my first month here.

BBC News Photo Editor Phil Coomes has some fantastic photos of yesteryear’s press photographers from News Stills archives in BBC Centre, London. My favourite is the guy lighting Labour chancellor Denis Healey with an umbrella, which I’m sure Strobist fans will appreciate.
Ami Vitale explores India with the Nikon D300s
Photojournalist Ami Vitale has gorgeous video showing off the new Nikon D300s. Aside from gear considerations, the video is beautifully shot. The roles of photographer and videographer are becoming increasingly intertwined, the results of which I look forward to seeing much more as technology evolves. You can see more of Ami’s work here.

Drigotet Jazz at the Goethe Institute
Santiago, Chile: Jazz ensemble Drigotet play on a “Jazz Wednesday” at the Goethe Insistute, August 10, 2009. The group, comprising of bassist and composer Rodrigo Ríos, drummer Nicolás Ríos and pianist Sergio Valenzuela, play their new repertoire to celebrate the launch of their latest live album.
